High-Performance Transcoding For Termination and Interconnect Providers
HIGHLIGHTS
- Support codec diversity
- Implement transcoding with little impact on performance or quality
- Meet customer expectations on MOS
The remarkable growth of VoIP service worldwide and the diversity of carrier networks makes delivering reliable, consistent voice service a serious challenge.
Despite this complexity, termination and interconnect providers are asked not only to solve this problem, but to support an R-Value (and the resulting Mean Opinion Score) that meets or exceeds their partner's requirements.
Interconnectivity between carrier networks leads to problems such as differing codec formats, plus packet impairments such as packet loss, delay and jitter. Carrier interconnectivity also creates voice impairments, such as echo, level mismatch and noise, which impact call quality and MOS scores.
We solve these problems with our Codec Transcoding and Voice Quality Assurance products, both of which are deployed on our Packet Voice Processor platform. This solution supports codec transcoding and speech processing at the network border and in the core.
When implemented at the network border, Ditech can support nearly any type of codec without requiring a change to the codec supported in the core or elsewhere.
In addition, the Packet Voice Processor addresses additional voice issues specific to VoIP, such as packet loss, delay and jitter. When combined with mitigating common VoIP voice impairments, Ditech enables termination and interconnect providers to meet or exceed the requirements of their customers.
