Echo Cancellation for Wireless Networks

Overview

In wireless networks, hybrid echo is present due to the digital-to-analog conversion at the 4-wire to 2-wire hybrid in the PSTN section of the network, so carriers must protect against hybrid echo entering their network. The echo is particularly annoying for the wireless caller due to the inherent delay in signal path introduced by the wireless switch and vocoders. Switch-integrated hybrid echo cancellation solutions can consume switch ports, and/or the echo canceller tail delay may be inadequate.
